History of the Lone Star Aero Club

Sometime in 1984 Jay Miller had a few friends over to his house to share and show aviation slides. These slide shows became a weekly event, and would sometimes last late into the evening. Gradually our small group of four or five grew to over thirty. Not only had the group physically outgrown Jay's living room, we were also becoming something of an imposition on the Miller's home life.
We entertained the idea of meeting monthly, and expanding the agenda beyond airplane slide shows. Thus, and for lack of a better name, the "No-Name Aviation Group" was born. It was not until early 1996 that the group organized as a non-profit 501-3(c) organization by affiliating as a local chapter of the National Aeronautic Association. The "No-Name Aviation Group" needed a bit more official sounding name, so we became "The Lone Star Aero Club" in the summer of 2000.
