August 3rd, 2023 Meeting at 7PM with Jay Miller
Our August presenter, Jay Miller, is a professional aviation photographer. He shoots for Boeing, Leading Edge, Airbus Helicopters, Bell Helicopter, ATK, RSG Aviation, Ezell Aviation, and many other aviation companies in the Metroplex. Jay is a Texas-based aviation photo journalist with 36 books and over a thousand published newspaper and magazine articles to his credit. As a professional aviation photographer, he spends much of his time working with a variety of aviation clients. More significantly for us, he’s the founder of the group that eventually became the Lone Star Aero Club.
Jay got the aviation book and magazine collecting bug in 1957 with the arrival of the 1957 “Observer’s Book of Aircraft”. He never looked back. For over sixty years he has been an inveterate collector, eventually amassing one of the world’s largest privately held aviation libraries. With over 10,000 books; over 100,000 periodicals, and well over a million photographs, it became the epicenter of his life (until Susan came along!).
Jay is going to discuss his collection in considerable detail and will cover select items in its contents including his complete, original, first edition set of “Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft” and aviation books that date back to 1765. For any of our members who are collectors, this is a must-see presentation.
