Our Next Meeting will be Thursday 7:00 PM at
south of DFW Airport at Hwy 360 and F.A.A. Rd. The Thursday Sept. 3rd Lone Star Aero Club program will be promoted as a "Aviation Film Fest". Thanks to former Douglas Aircraft, Air Force, Convair / General Dynamics test pilot, Val Prahl, we'll be showing / viewing 1950s and 1960s flight test film. This initial (hopefully annnual) film fest will feature GD Fort Worth's awesome F-111 Aardvark's flight test footage. The F-111 struts it's stuff with low-level ATF (automatic terrain following radar) runs, swing-wing demos, wild rocket powered escape capsule sequences, weapons deployments, and formation flying. The supporting aviation film will contain some Douglas B-66 Destroyer, Convair B-58 Hustler (low level near Jacksboro) and miscellaneous other aircraft flight test clips. The faithful attendees will be entertained with almost one and a half hours of historic USAF flight test highlights viewed by few and saved from the dumpster thanks to my good buddy, Val Prahl. Rare DVD copies reasonably priced will be available as a Aero Club fund raiser. As always, this special program in the American Airlines C. R. Smith Museum (check map link for location) starting at 7:00 PM is free with the interested public invited. Mark your calendars and bring a friend.
